Hello again beauties and welcome back to my Online Frontlines series! Now, besides fashion, I have to say beauty is my all time favourite obsession (other than chocolate and bacon of course) so today is all about my absolute favourite beauty bloggers. I say blogger cause it's just easier, but along with blogging, they are also if not more well known for their Youtube channels too making them bloggers/vloggers/cloggers - whatever floats your boat. So let's get down to it.
It's Judy Time
Words can not even express how obsessed I am with Judy. I actually started out watching her daily vlogs, itsjudyslife, which chronicles her everyday life after being introduced to it by a friend in high school (like I literally wait up every night to watch her vlogs before I go to sleep - I'm obsessed). What I love most about Judy is that she is a self taught 'beauty guru' if you will - all the tips and tricks she learned from makeup to hair were on her own. What I love even more is she is an everyday woman. She's married and has 3 beautiful little girls (Julianna bear is 1 1/2 years old and she just recently like last week had twin girls Miya and Keira!) and still finds the time to continue doing what she loves. Of all her videos, I think her best videos have to be her first impression videos where she tests out products for the day from lipsticks to foundations, checks in throughout the day with updates on the product and expresses her final thoughts after using it for the first time. I can't even tell you how many amazing products I've purchased (such as the L'oreal True Match Concealer stick she's using below) after seeing such amazing reviews from her - and even better, the horrible products I was able to avoid thanks to her! I love how honest, humble and real Judy is and believe me, once you start watching her daily vlogs too and see her beautiful family and life, you'll be just as addicted.
Kandee Johnson
Kandee is literally, LITERALLY the happiest person on the earth. Along with all the beauty bloggers here, Kandee is SO REAL. She not only gives out beauty tips but is determined to make every moment of not only her life but others' so positive and happy. Every video I've ever watched of hers is filled with so much joy and positivity - she's like a unicorn barfing a rainbow - she's that awesome. What I love about Kandee is that because she was a celebrity makeup artist, she is able to show the magic behind the curtain and reveal all the true tips and tricks the pros use and how we can apply those tricks into our everyday lives. She truly amazes me as a person by being a single mom to 4 beautiful children and just always maintaining a positive outlook on everything in life (if you ever see this Kandee I'd love to be your BFF!). I don't think I've ever watched a single video of hers without a big dumb smile on my face - I love you Kandee - virtual hug!!!
Dulce Candy
Now although Judy was the first Youtuber I ever watched, the first Youtube beauty channel I watched was Dulce's. Her story is truly inspiring. Her family immigrated to the US from Mexico and later in life she enlisted in the army as an engineer (smarty pants) and was deployed to Iraq where she eventually met her future husband (crazy right?!). She first became inspired to do beauty videos as an outlet to express her feminine side more because in the military she wasn't really able to be feminine much in such a harsh and masculine environment. After the army, she went to fashion school for a Bachelor's degree in fashion design and has since created her own clothing line, gotten married to her military sweetheart and has had her son Issac! From her amazing makeup tutorials and inspiring life, Dulce Candy truly is one of the most honest and loveable people out there (I also featured Dulce in my favourite fashion bloggers post earlier this week).
Michelle Phan
I feel like EVERYONE knows who Michelle Phan is (and if you don't you've been living under a very big rock). I remember people talking about her when I was in middle school almost 7 years ago (I remember this because even the boys in my class talked about her - that's how big she was) but I didn't become familiar with her beauty videos until I entered high school. Michelle became inspired by makeup at a young age and through her knowledge as an art student, she treated the concept of makeup similar to that of painting on a canvas. She believes in the true artistic element behind beauty and makeup and hopes that all women can share this idea. One of the best quotes I read from her is that "Makeup IS art - the only difference is it's on a moving canvas that constantly changes throughout the day...it's an extension of our self-expression, and a powerful tool that shapes how we see ourselves" (beautiful right?). She not only inspires women everyday to be better versions of themselves but shows how look and feel fabulous in their own skin! She has since become an online phenomenon, with collaborations with hundreds of brands over the years, created her own beauty subscription service Ipsy (which I reviewed here) and more recently her own makeup collection Em (which I'd love to get my hands on!). Michelle is such an inspiring person who's ultimate goal is to make all women feel confident and beautiful in their own skin which makes me love her more.
From Head To Toe
Jen from From Head To Toe (a little confusing I know) is one actually very new to the pack of beauty bloggers I follow. Now there are many other beauty bloggers I follow (like That's Heart, Sonia Castaneda, MakeupByTiffanyD, MissGlamarozzi etc.) but despite them all and even though I had just gotten into her videos, Jen just stood out to me. She has such an infectious and likeable personality that you just can't turn away from (or click away I guess cause this is the internet right). She started off in school majoring in industrial design (eek) and soon after didn't feel content with what she was doing. With no promise of security, her and her husband moved out to LA leaving behind her family and friends in Kansas City to pursue her dream. Now along with her successful Youtube channel and blog, Jen is a freelance makeup artist and designer. Usually it only takes me one video to know whether I'm going to connect with a Youtuber or not and I can honestly tell you, Jen had me at hello (literally like the first 10 seconds). She is such a sweet, honest and loveable soul who has a true passion for what she does, which makes following her videos and blogs so much more easier.
So there you have it beauties - these are the beauties that inspire me!
